We’ve got some patchy low clouds to start off the day today, but this marine layer looks significantly thinner than the ones we were seeing just a week ago. Expect highs today to reach the mid 60s on the coast and Northern Interior to the low 70s along the I-5 corridor, although I can’t rule out some highs in the mid-upper 70s, especially if this marine layer burns off quicker than models were predicting it would.
We are currently under the influence of a slow-moving, weak, upper-level low pressure system, and this will gradually drift to our east through today and Wednesday morning, making for improving conditions Wednesday afternoon. Thursday, yet another weak trough swings on through, and although a weak ridge builds on Friday and Saturday, onshore flow returns on Sunday. More weak ridging occurs Monday and Tuesday, and then another trough rolls through the area on Wednesday. To quote the Seattle NWS forecast discussion at 3:30 AM this morning, the “long term forecast overall looks to be rather snooze-worthy.”
