Today will be HOT! At 11:19 am, we are already at 79 degrees at Sea-Tac airport, which is already above our average for this time of the year of 77. Currently, there is a wide range of temperatures throughout the Puget Sound region, ranging from the low 60s at places near the water like West Point to the lower 80s in the Cascade foothills. I expect we will see widespread 80s this afternoon, and many foothill locations may reach 90. Sea-Tac should hit the upper 80s, and there is an outside chance we could hit 90.

Tomorrow, the thermal trough that is giving us this warm weather will move slightly east, giving us onshore flow. As such, the coast will be cooler than today, with highs in the 70s. However, the transition to onshore flow looks to hold off until the evening for the Puget Sound region, meaning our highs tomorrow should be similar to what they are today. Eastern Washington will be baking in triple-digit heat. We are lucky there wasn’t more lightning earlier this week, or we could be dealing with some big forest fires right now!

Sunday we “cool down” to the low 80s due to additional onshore flow, and Monday looks downright frigid with highs only reaching 80 degrees. 😉

Though the models have been a bit inconsistent with the details, next week looks to be warmer and drier than normal as well. Summer may have taken a while to arrive, but it is here, and it is here to stay!

Charlie
