Showers, Sunbreaks, and Mountain Snow Ahead!

Good afternoon everybody! I hope Hump Day is treating you all well.

After hitting 77 degrees Sunday and 78 degrees Monday at Sea-Tac airport under bluebird skies, highs only reached the upper 60s throughout Western Washington on Tuesday as a weak frontal system ushered in cool, marine air into the Pacific Northwest. And it’s about to get even cooler!

Beginning on Thursday, a deep, upper level trough will drop down south and set up shop just off our coast, where it will spin various weak systems into our area through the weekend. The timing of these individual systems is still up in the air, but as of right now, we look to have a weak one come in Thursday evening, followed by a wetter one Friday. Over the weekend, we will cool off into the low 60s as showers pass through the area, with Saturday looking wetter than Sunday at this time.

Next Monday was looking downright stormy as a strong low pressure system barreled into the Washington Coast, but recent model runs weaken the storm offshore and instead bring a dilapidated, disorganized, and rather depressing low into northern California Monday evening into Tuesday morning. Next week, expect a few showers in a relatively cool, zonal flow. Snow levels will dip to near 5,000 feet, so the higher elevations of ski resorts may see a their first dustings of snow of the season!

Have a fantastic day!
Charlie
