The Showers and Sunbreaks of Spring

I have a somewhat bad habit of overusing alliteration in my titles and posts, and this post marks the second consecutive post I’ve made a tongue-twisting title revolving around spring. But when you realize how many weather words begin with the letter s… supercell, sleet/snow/slush, all the stratus clouds, and even Sharknados 1-4 (rumor has it […]

Ahh… Much Calmer Weather On The Way

After dealing with lowland snow Sunday/Monday, heavy rain Wednesday/Thursday, and a minor windstorm today, Pacific Northwesterners will finally get a much-deserved respite from the wacky weather we’ve witnessed recently. Today’s winds were caused by a degrading 999 mb cyclone making landfall on the Olympic Peninsula. As is typical, the strongest gusts were in the mountains, […]

Showers, Sunbreaks, and Mountain Snow Ahead!

Good afternoon everybody! I hope Hump Day is treating you all well. After hitting 77 degrees Sunday and 78 degrees Monday at Sea-Tac airport under bluebird skies, highs only reached the upper 60s throughout Western Washington on Tuesday as a weak frontal system ushered in cool, marine air into the Pacific Northwest. And it’s about […]

Morning Clouds Now, But Improving Weather Throughout The Weekend

Good morning friends! We are off to a cloudy start in Portland and throughout the Willamette Valley, and the Puget Sound area is seeing filtered sunshine as low clouds have been quicker to burn off there than areas further south. A frontal system is spreading some additional cloud cover over the NW Washington coast, but […]
