Folks in the Seattle metro were treated to some snow this morning as a convergence zone formed over the area! This zone was hinted at by last night’s high-resolution UW WRF-GFS, but the timing was off – the WRF-GFS had the zone occurring slightly later and further to the NE than the zone actually was.

With temperatures very close to freezing, the snow was heavy and wet, with a large gradient in snow in elevation.

Here are some pictures submitted by users from around the region! It looks like the highest amounts have been NE of Seattle in Snohomish County with some elevation… Duvall is reporting around 4 inches so far!

The latest radar image shows that the band has moved northward. Though areas under this band are still seeing snow, expect the snow to change to a rain-snow mix late morning for areas below 500 feet as the late February sun works its magic and warms the lower atmosphere. There is the potential for another round of snow later this afternoon as another convergence zone forms, especially above 300 feet or so. I’ll have an afternoon update if I have time.
